Reading Kevin
I stole into my friend’s room one day, browsed through his books and got a hold of We need to talk about Kevin by Lionel Shriver because of this review. That’s what you get for letting me into your home for a couple of weeks:) Anyway, I started reading it and almost immediately had that wonderful, familiar, cannot-put-it-down, glued-to-the-page feeling that has been almost entirely missing from my reading experience lately. Lovely lovely book. It’s honest, tense, taut with grief, and richly insightful. I am not sure it’s as Daring (with a capital D) that many have said, but it is some of finest writing I have read in a long time…which always has the effect of making you feel like you are reading something subversive. Anyway read the review, then go out and read the book. By the way, super cheesy cover. Un-worthy.
