When the KKK and the Black Panthers came to our community, we were so concerned our town would be burned to the ground. That was the key to the whole situation. The blacks did not side with the Panthers, and the whites did not side with the KKK. When we stood together, we stood together against the Black [Panthers] and we stood together against the KKK.
