Why is Larry King such hot shit?

Who said Larry King was hot shit? Not the point.  

I was watching him the other day and I was irritated. Larry King was interviewing Susanne Sommers who is all about natural stuff and not using drugs for anything. Whatever. Who cares? Good for her. Then he asks her howcome so many medical doctors find her “controversial”?  She said something like, “well, I don’t have an agenda. I am all about hormones. And I am not selling you anything.” But. That isn’t the point at all about the criticism, is it? What a cope out. The point is some lady somewhere is watching Sommers survive breast cancer and might decide that she will not go through chemotherapy and try to think “good thoughts” instead. Is Sommers ready to stand up for her and tell her, “yeah, believe me enough to risk your life.” There’s hubris there. Incredible, sickening levels of hubris.

She also said, “When I cannot get to sleep, I take melatonin, which you can find in a health store. It’s natural. The second thing I think of is nanotechnology.” Umm.. Okay. Are all incredibly incredibly privileged people this dense about their priviledge?

I have a feeling that priviledge is often mistaken with happiness. But being privileged doesn’t defacto mean you are happy, and that you have everything. It simply means you don’t have to think about certain things that other people do because of some specific factor about you—be it race, class, gender, blah blah.  So people of the world, just own your priviledge and stop throwing it around in my face, annoying the crap out of me.
