I am Writing it Down

October 6, 2009

I always imagine that buying a special notebook and a “silky ink” pen will inspire me to write. It has been a long time since I have written with a pen. My hand is getting impatient. It is too used to the computer, tapping out my thoughts as soon as it occurs, deleting or exaggerating as it solidifies itself into black and white.

I have been fascinated lately with the writing process. What happens between the thought that seeds inside, and then translates into words. They are two different essences of ideas, no? One seems so bright and alive before it becomes leaden and weighted down by its solidity when you finally write it down on paper. Great writers master the art of translating ideas into stories that live. But there is a different kind of failure in not recording it, not writing (or singing or drawing) it down. They become thoughts and ideas that stay inside you, remain there for a while before eventually going home alone.
