Assholes and Haiti

January 27, 2010

The one thing that the Haiti earthquake has done is smoke out the hard-core assholes among us. What is deeply irritating is that they keep “talking for the American people” (Limbaugh) or sign their letter “The Rest of the World” like this douche-bag here.

This is Paul Shirley, the former NBA player:

First of all, kudos on developing the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Your commitment to human rights, infrastructure, and birth control should be applauded.

As we prepare to assist you in this difficult time, a polite request: If it’s possible, could you not re-build your island home in the image of its predecessor? Could you not resort to the creation of flimsy shanty- and shack-towns? And could some of you maybe use a condom once in a while?

By the way, Paul Shirley, lost his ESPN freelance job over this. Sigh of Relief. Sometimes bad things happen to bad people.

Speaking of mind-blasting foolishness in relation to Haiti. Here’s John Travolta and Kelly Preston.

John Travolta has flown a jetliner into Haiti’s earthquake ravaged capital to deliver relief supplies along with doctors and Church of Scientology ministers.

Then we have this. Scientologists with no sense of shame.

Explaining how they [Scientologists] heal by touch a “volunteer minister” called Sylvie said: “When you get a sudden shock to a part of your body the energy gets stuck, so we re-establish communication within the body by touching people through their clothes, and asking people to feel the touch.” She was tending to Oscar Elweels, 22, a student rescued from the basement of a school. His right leg was amputated and his left leg was severely bruised and swollen.

“One hour ago he had no sensation in his left leg, so I explained the method to him, I touched him and after a while he said ‘now I feel everything‘,” she said.

Foolish, ignorant people – Don’t go to Haiti.

I don’t know who is worse, the asshole who did harm only to himself by revealing how much of an ass he is or these other fools who do harm by clogging up resources and airports with their own crappy selves. I guess you could say, “their heart is in the right place”. But I don’t think hearts are supposed to be stuffed up one’s own ass. Yeah, definitely the latter. Stupid Scientologists.
