I am outraged at many things

February 4, 2010

…but this would not be one of them.

When President Obama suggested that people should not blow off all their money in Las Vegas when they are strapped for cash, Senator Reid was quick to be publicly needled.

“I just spoke to the White House and told them that while the President is correct that people saving for college need to be fiscally responsible, the President needs to lay off Las Vegas and stop making it the poster child for where people shouldn’t be spending their money,” Reid said

This is just irritating. Health care. The new budget plan. War in Iraq. War in Afghanistan. The mental health of our military service people. Equal rights. Human rights. The mind-numbing spectacle of the legislative process in Congress. There are literally dozens of things that are worthy of “issuing a statement”. I would submit that “defending las vegas” is not one of them.
