Driving on a River

October 6, 2010

Angry, cold pounding rain.

It felt like  Bangalore  was trying to flush us all out of her system. Making the feeling stronger was all the overflowing sewer drains dotting the road sides. My travel home was a deluge. My auto died twice, and my auto-driver valiantly yanked the whatchamacallit thingie and got the auto started both times.

Did you know that an autorickshaw’s battery cannot get wet? Is that true for all vehicle batteries? I don’t know. But autos stop working when this happens. Which is why when it rains, it is always impossible to get an auto.

Flooded streets, mad traffic.  To be home, curled and lost in a book with a hot cup of coffee and biscuits. That would have been nice, instead of another midnight madness.
